Japanese paper and Japanese paper umbrellas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil-paper_umbrella#Wagasa_in_Japanese_culture) are well related to maiko and geisha, made from natural materials such as Japanese paper (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washi), bamboo, wood, flaxseed oil, lacquer, and persimmons.
Wagasa is made of bamboo framework, a component made by experts of the masters of Washi, Wagath, and can take weeks or months.
There are services and shops where you can experience and purchase wagatha. Hiyoshiya manufactures Japanese-style and Japanese-style lighting. There are also lessons for making small wagassa.
